Gen Nakatani is a member of the Japanese House of Representatives from the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan. He has served as the Director General of the Japan Defensy Agency (now Japan Ministry of Defense) by Koizumi cabinet (2001) and the Minister of Defense by Abe cabinet (2014).
